Elstree School Case Study

Elstree School Case Study

First day of the Spring term saw the High Sherriff of Berkshire, Mr Charles Brims, officially marking the opening of Elstree School’s brand-new Science Centre.

Over the past 7 years, we have worked closely with Elstree School, at which we were initially called upon to supply the changing room mesh locker and benching units for the (then) new build.

Designed by Henley-based Architects, Nichols Brown Webber; and built by Feltham Construction, the new building includes two new Science Laboratories- fully equipped with

state-of-the-art facilities; as well as two new spacious classrooms and additional changing rooms.

ImageArkinstall was approached by Elstree’s Bursar, Prue Matchwick, who had been impressed by our work at a local independent school.

After an initial chat, we were briefed to the following requirements:

▪to accommodate locker and benching facilities for approximately 60 pupils.

▪For the internal storage to be visible for security purposes

▪Easy to operate and maintain

▪Practical yet stylish

To better understand the site and specific room environment, we organised a site visit with Elstree; during which we discussed:

▪  The most suitable locker & benching styles

▪  Materials (steel/mesh/aluminium/SGL/timber)

▪  Room layout options

▪  Any possible hinderances which may have an impact on the type of product chosen and installation.

From start to finish, Arkinstall aims to make the process as simple and hassle-free as possible, so after conducting our own measuring service of the relevant rooms and completing a thorough check on site, we were in a better position to draw up an initial Quotation.

Arkinstall takes into consideration your budget restrictions and we always recommend the best value for money goods whilst also meeting individual requirements.

After the manufacture was complete at our Worcestershire-based manufacturing unit, our in house fitters were ready to start on site; and the job was completed within the agreed timescale.

As the project was a new build, minimal difficulty was encountered during installation. Despite the walls in the room being curved, our fitters manoeuvred their way around with problem and installation was complete as planned.

The final installation consisted of:

Open Fronted Bespoke Mesh Lockers with internal shelf and heavy-duty hooks, powder coated red with beech timber top batten including personalised name plates.

T31LS- 30 Series Locker Stand with Integrated Bench Seat to Front, steel framework, hardwood timber slats

Bespoke Mesh Boot Rack Units, 4 tiers high, powder coated red
